DECKHAND /FISHING GUIDE

  • What age did you start fishing?
  • 5 – When I was old enough to hold a fishing rod!
  • Where have you fished?
  • North Stradbroke island, Morton Island, Fraser island. Have fished all the remote islands, and reefs of the Coral Sea – some up to 300 nautical miles off the east coast – fishing for Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphinfish (Mahi-mahi), and Giant Trevally. I have explored the whole east cost all the way up to Cape York and Thursday Island.
  • Best thing about fishing?
  • It’s very relaxing, you can take your mind off what the rest of the world is doing and is the best stress relief ever.
  • What’s your favourite style of fishing to do?
  • Have to be fishing for the ionic Barramundi “barra fever” and being in remote places exploring. Also my other favourite type of fishing is fishing for something that pulls back!
  • Best Fishing Trip Ever?
  • They are all pretty good but one of the highlights would have to be bottom fishing off the Gold Coast In 500 meters of water. I caught My first Blue Eyed Trevalla weighing a massive 37kg on a tld 50 2 speed reel NO electric reel.
  • Best Catch Ever?
  • 800lb Black Marlin.
  • What do you like about Fishing on Norseman?
  • The speed of the vessel, the size of Norseman and Norseman being a custom built vessel for fishing with state of the art fishing finding electronics.
  • What’s your red hot tip for fishing on Norseman?
  • Handline fishing on the reef is the way to go, you can pull quicker and feel a lot more. Keep it simple and have a great time out on the water! Can’t wait to see you for a fishing charter in Port Douglas!

DECKHAND /FISHING GUIDE

  • What age did you start fishing?
  • My first fishing memory is actually on the Norseman when I was about 7 years old. Me and my brother caught a massive coral trout.
  • Where have you fished?
  • I’ve always gone on fishing charters everywhere I go, in places like Japan, New Zealand, Mauritius, Thailand and all over Australia but I’ve done the majority of my fishing here in Far North Queensland for barramundi.
  • Best thing about fishing?
  • The escape! Just love being on the water without a worry in the world.
  • What’s your favourite style of fishing to do?
  • Can’t beat casting lures for Barra.
  • Best Fishing Trip Ever?
  • It’t too hard to pick one, but it would have to be one of the Lakefield trips I did as a teenager.
  • Best Catch Ever?
  • My best ever catch is definitely not my biggest but I’ll never forget it, a 106cm barramundi, fishing Lakefield National Park with my dad, caught in the last hour on the last day of a 7-day trip.
  • What do you like about Fishing on Norseman?
  • I really enjoy putting people onto big fish that they usually wouldn’t get to experience and watching the expressions when they feel how hard they can pull.
  • What’s your red hot tip for fishing on Norseman?
  • Keep checking your bait every 5 minutes, the little fish can take it without you noticing and you can’t catch fish without bait!
